The German Tiger I Tank featured a powerful 88mm gun as well as excellent armor and was the greatest opponent to Allied forces during WWII. The late production version incorporated large steel road wheels with built-in rubber rings and an overhauled turret with periscope in front of the loader"s hatch, the commander"s viewport replaced by seven individual periscopes, and ventilators moved to the center for improved efficiency.

Developed during the early 1980's, the M1 Abrams tank benefited from the latest technological wonders of the time, giving it enormous advantage on any battlefield. The turret, being very angular and squat, had a very roomy interior. This angular design was combined with Chobham armor for excellent protection against the kinetic energy from hollow charge projectiles. The hull sides and rear panels are vertical, with only the front angled to deflect anti-tank shots. The 1500 horsepower Avco-Lycoming AGT-1500 turbine engine provides remarkable speed and maneuverability plus being regarded as one of the quietest tank powerplants available today. During the mid 1980's the M1 underwent an improvement program to upgrade its 105mm gun to the type M256 120mm smoothbore cannon. The armor at the frontal area of the lower hull front and turret was also increased, and it was given the new designation of "M 1A1". Other improvements are seen in the enlarged rear turret bustle stowage rack, a new style crosswind sensor, a revised gunner's sightmount, plus reinforced suspension and transmission unit. One of the more specialized pieces of equipment utilized on this tank is a detachable plow for uncovering and neutralizing mine fields. Land mines are a menacing problem for both humans and vehicles during any conflict, and the operations of this specialized M1A1 helped clear the way for troops following the tanks during the recent Gulf conflict.
Developed for infantry support during WWII, the Assault Tank IV married the trusty Pz.Kpfw.IV chassis with a simple fighting compartment featuring 100mm of front and 50mm of side armor, plus a high-powered 15cm gun that could defeat 160mm of 30-degree armor from 5km. Its variants can largely be grouped into early, mid and late production types, the latter of which was most numerous with 160 examples manufactured between May 1944 and March 1945. Feedback from crews of earlier Brummbärs had led to new a fighting compartment design and cupola, plus partial use of steel road wheels. Brummbärs were assigned to their own dedicated Assault Tank Battalions and fought on the Eastern Front and in Italy as the war drew to its conclusion.

This is a United States Army M10 Tank Destroyer 1/35 scale model from Tamiya. One of the more famous armored vehicles from WWII and a previous subject of Tamiya's 1/48 scale Military Miniatures series, this depicts the M10 in glorious 1/35 scale detail. Apart from the machine gun and clear parts, all of the parts used in this model have been custom tooled to faithfully represent the M10.
The M10 was developed during WWII as a response to the surprisingly effective German armor tactics, which prompted a new philosophy of armor tactics that required dedicated tank destroyers to counter them. After trying out a couple of different designs, they eventually ended with the incredibly successful M10 design featuring steep-sloped but thin (to improve maneuverability) armor plate and a power 3-inch (76.2mm) gun. Over 4,900 were produced, it debuted in Operation Torch of the North African campaign, where it proved its efficacy against German tanks. The M10 would continue to fight in Italy, the Battle of Normandy, and eventually advanced upon Germany to help bring the terrible conflict to an end.

The latest upgrade to the Leopard 2 is a newly designed 55 caliber 120mm smooth bore main gun. Measuring 1.3m longer than the 44 caliber main gun of its predecessor, the Leopard 2 A5, the new gun of the 2 A6 provides higher projectile velocity for increased range and penetration. The 2 A6 retains improvements made to previous Leopard 2 tanks including wedge shaped spaced armor effective against chemical weapons and improved electric gun control and stabilization system. The use of the 2 A6 continues to spread throughout Europe with the Netherlands, Spain and Greece adopting the 2 A6 as their main battle tank.
The Type 59 is a legendary main battle tank first produced by the People’s Republic of China from 1957. It began service in 1959 (hence its name) and remains in use by several nations to this day. Ostensibly a copy of the Soviet T-54 series of tanks, the Type 59 received several modifications and simplifications to its set up. Yet no one can dispute the effectiveness of this tank and its combat pedigree, even without all the fancy Soviet gadgetry. Mounting a 100mm gun, that eventually was swapped to a 105mm in later variants, the Type 59 was a force to be reckoned with - a dependable, flexible tank for use in all sorts of military situations.
