The durable and versatile range of Alclad Metallic Lacquers are designed to be used on surfaces previously primed using any one of the Alclad Surface Primers. For ‘non-reflective’ finishes (ALC101 Aluminium etc.) Grey, White and/or Black Primer and Microfiller are recommended, whereas for reflective surfaces such as Chrome, Black Chrome and Airframe Aluminium, Gloss Black Base is the Recommended Primer. By following the instructions on the labels closely, unrivalled metallic finishes will be simple to achieve.
To ensure the high shine nature of the Alclad Metallic Lacquer is retained for the application of decals and weathering we recommend using Alclad Aqua Gloss Acrylic Varnish (particularly when working solvent based weathering products) or, when working with water based weathering products, the range of Alclad Klear Kote Varnishes. Klear Kote comes in a wide variety of finishes: Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Light-Sheen, Flat and Matte.
All of the Alclad Varnish range can be used in conjunction with any brand and type of modelling paint including the Alclad Mil Spec range of Airbrush Ready, Quick Drying Enamels as well as other manufacturers Acrylics and Lacquers.
Apply 2-3 medium coats, allowing 30 minutes between coats.
Scratches and shallow seams can be filled with several light coats
Can be polished with 4000 to 8000 grit Micromesh for a finer final finish.
Spray at 15-20 psi (1-1.5 bar.)
