Control horns may often be pretty small, but they're very important.  You won't have much control of the plane without them.  Like servo arms, control horns are direct links between the power source and the surface you need to control. 

They need to be strong as well as light weight.  A broken control horn can mean an immediate and costly crash.  They also need to be designed well in order to function properly.
